Flight Operations Controller

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute all flight operation related duties in accordance with Operations Manual and the specific instructions from Flight OPS Manager
  • Conduct mission feasibility studies and process all Flight Requests including the allocation of aircrew and aircraft
  • Verification of validity of all crew passports, VISA’s and all relevant endorsements prior to missions
  • Update the dedicated flight support software (LEON) with all flight and crew information
  • Ensure compliance with the Flight Time Limitation/Fatigue Management Scheme
  • Conduct fuel price assessments and sourcing of fuel at destinations
  • Monitor progression of all permits and services (handling, transportation, positioning, accommodation, etc.) related to a mission
  • Flight following (monitoring of mission progression to completion)
  • Produce monthly reports from the Flight Scheduling Software with respect to Pilot Hours, AC Utilization, Fleet Analysis, Duty Violation Reports, Crew Rest Reports
  • Ensure aircraft insurance coverage (per geographic stipulation) for all planned flights
  • Monitor the export and import process of aircraft during extended stay in RSA
  • Ensure that the mandatory operational documents (post flight) of each flight are obtained, filed and checked appropriately
  • Ensure that TLB and the Flight Scheduling Software records are accurate and completed in full
  • Ensure that the roster scheduling, training schedule and crew movements are recorded accurately in the flight support software
  • Coordinate (with the assistance of HOTAC) positioning including airline tickets, hotel accommodation and car rental for crew in training and on missions

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assisting Crew with mission arrangements if required
  • Assisting Ground OPS manager
  • Assisting training department

Special demands/ requirements:

  • Matriculated from high school with Mathematics
  • Fully conversant in English with an above average literacy
  • General aviation knowledge including exposure to airlaw, terms, definitions and acronyms (preferable)
  • Computer literate (Internet, Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work both as a team member or individually
  • Ability to work under pressure at peak times while maintaining situational awareness
  • Person of organised and methodical orientation
  • Be solution orientated
  • Ability to work with persons of diverse cultures
  • Flexibility for working beyond normal working hours
  • Flexibility for working standby shifts on alternate weeks and weekends
